Join Kiwanis

There are currently 9-Kiwanis clubs in Division 12 of the Carolinas District.  Division 12 encompasses the greater Raleigh area including Wake Forest & Garner.  The meeting days & times of these clubs, as well as a contact person for each club, are listed below.

To locate a club in your area please visit http://www.carolinakiwanis.org/clublocator.htm.  For information on Kiwanis clubs outside of the Division 12 (Raleigh) area, please visit http://www.carolinakiwanis.org/member.htm or email the District Administrator Leah Moretz at districtoffice@carolinakiwanis.org.

The most important step in becoming involved with Kiwanis is to determine which club you want to join.  The best way to do this is to check out each club's website (note that some clubs do not have websites) and/or the meeting information for each club shown below.  While it is not required to attend meetings this is certainly the best way to determine which club fits your needs the most.

In a nutshell there are 4-basic areas of involvement when joining a Kiwanis club.

Administrative: A good Kiwanian pays his/her dues in a timely fashion and helps the club go and grow by serving at least one of the following capacities.  As a club officer, member of the board of directors, committee chair or an active committee member.

Service Leadership: Perhaps the most vital and rewarding area of involvement within Kiwanis is the opportunity to help  build the leaders of tomorrow by participating in your clubs support of one of the following K-Family Groups.  Circle K (college age youth), Key Club (High School), Builders Club (Middle School), K-Kids (Elementary School) and Aktion Club (adults with disabilities).  You can serve as a liaison between your club and the service leadership group, mentor a group or simply participate in joint activities between your club and the service leadership group your club sponsors.

Fund raising: While many Kiwanis activities don't involve money or the need to raise funds some do.  Each club has a budget the need to raise money.  Your involvement with helping support your club's fund raising initiatives is vital to your club's ability to be able to its objectives.

Community Service: Kiwanis clubs are involved in many community service projects in their neighborhoods, states and around the world.  The list is huge but includes the following...Relay for Life events, Victory Junction Gang in Randleman, Boys & Girls Homes of NC at Lake Waccamaw, the Women & Children's Hospital in Charlotte, the Neo-Natal Wing in Asheville, Miracle Children's Network, Tammy Lynn Center in Raleigh, Special Olympics, Buddy Walk, Read Around the World, Seat Belt Safety Checks, the Kiwanis Wake County Dictionary Project and more. There are many ways to become involved with this part of your club's family of services including being an event chair, serving on a committee or as part of a team for an event, making a financial contribution, helping get others involved, public relations and more.  You get out of something what you put into it!

One of the great things about Kiwanis is that you get to determine your level of involvement with your club based on your skills, interests and time allowance.  Whether you are able to be extensively involved with all facets of your club or are only able to be involved with one or two events your involvement in the Kiwanis family is greatly appreciated!
